After School Clubs

Peer Mediation Club

Our school counselor established the program to decrease discipline concerns, increase school safety, offer students leadership positions, and teach students communication, problem-solving, and violence prevention skills. Only 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students are eligible to train as peer mediators.

The program goals are to empower students to help others and to encourage a more positive school environment. The students dubbed themselves the “Conflict Pros.”

Mediators meet every Thursday starting September 13, 2018 from 2:10-3:10 p.m. in room 213 and practice mediation with peers during recesses and in classrooms. Mediators and their families are invited to participate in several service learning projects throughout the school year.

The final mediation celebration to showcase students' learning is planned for Thursday, February 14, 2019, 2:30-4:00 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room.

Students in the mediation program can participate in other after school clubs held on Mondays and/or Fridays.

Environmental Science Club

Are you a kid who likes to problem solve ways to make our Earth more beautiful? Do you like to do hands on projects? Then our Environmental Science Club is for you! Join Ms. Miller in saving Mother Earth through science.

Environmental Science Club will aim to help students understand human consumption and their effects on the environment. Using a problem solving based learning approach, we will conduct an analysis of school and home consumption and develop plans to be more environmentally conscious. Students will also be introduced to the world of vermicomposting using the book and related activities "Worms Eat Our Garbage" by Mary Arlene Appelhof. Students meet on Mondays and Fridays from 2:15 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.
